If your application launches Adobe Reader for opening pdf files, you may want AscentialTest to be able to recognize that Reader is open. To do so, you need to do two things, register a profile in UA Server and turn off Protected Mode. These steps have been tested for Adobe Reader XI.

Register a profile

  • In UA Server while Adobe Reader is open, open up the New Profile window by going to File -> New Profile…

  • Name the profile, then click Find… You should see AcroRd32.exe on the list that pops up. Click it and press Ok. If two entries show up, either one should work.

  • Press OK to save
  • Turn off Protected Mode

  • In Adobe Reader, go to Edit -> Preferences…

  • In the Preferences menu, click Security (Enhanced) in the side bar, then uncheck Enable Protected Mode at startup. Click Ok and close Reader.
