There was a question posted to the 'Software Testing and Quality Assurance' group recently that asked whether it was sufficient to test only the latest version of Firefox. A few years ago, I would have emphatically supported the position that it was important to test the last three or four versions, but recently both Firefox and Chrome have become aggressive at migrating their users to the latest version. In fact, these days, you have to go out of your way to not be automatically upgraded. If there is concern in your organization, you can check your web server statistics to determine whether the number of users on older browser versions is significant. In any case, you should be automating your core browser tests so that you don't have to repeat them on all of the different browser types. Even running a regression against the latest version of the most popular browsers can be costly and time consuming if it is being executed manually.
